First draft of Power Girl complete! I need to tweak the armpits, raise the slit up a few inches, and adjust the legs. The cape will also be upgraded in the final version.
Body Suit #1
Turned my block into a pattern for the Power Girl suit. I’m trying to keep it as authentic as possible, so I’m giving princess seams a shot. This will be getting a turtleneck and hopefully two piece sleeves that mirror the seams on the body.
Up next: A custom fit Captain America swimsuit!
(This is my pre-project to the PowerGirl bodysuit so I can learn about working with stretch, sewing spandex on a curve, elastic tension, and twin stitching. I’m on V2 already of this bathing suit, but it is looking like it actually might work!)
The South Elm Urban Market opened up a few blocks from our apartment yesterday… It is going to be a tasty summer.

Working up my Power Girl costume…
I’m going to try making a custom spandex leotard with twin-stitched princess seams and a zipper in the back. I’m doing the cape first, and am using the same red baby silk that inspired my Super Girl robe. The boots and gloves will be blue suede.
I’m really looking forward to the challenge. :-)
